Clean Agro Β· Est. 2013 Nashik, Maharashtra Batch β„– CA-2026-K1

Good food starts in living soil.

We partner with smallholder farmers across western India to grow residue-free fruit, vegetables, and grain β€” replacing synthetic inputs with bio-fertilizers, on-farm science, and a fair farm-gate price.

Our story

It began with four acres and a soil report nobody wanted to read.

In 2012, Rohan Patil left a logistics job in Pune and went home to Niphad, in Nashik district, to help his father through a bad grape season. The vines were tired. Twenty years of heavy chemical spraying had pushed yields up and then quietly pulled them back down β€” while input bills kept climbing. A soil test told the real story: organic carbon at 0.3%, a third of what a living vineyard needs.

Instead of buying more chemistry, the Patils tried subtraction. On four acres they replaced synthetic fertilizer with vermicompost made from their own farm waste, swapped pesticide sprays for neem oil and pheromone traps, and kept meticulous notes. The first year was humbling. The second year, input costs fell by a third. By the third, the soil carbon had doubled β€” and a Mumbai exporter paid a premium for grapes that cleared European residue tests on the first attempt.

Neighbours didn't ask for a lecture on organic farming. They asked for the recipe.

Clean Agro was registered in 2013 to share that recipe: produce the bio-inputs at scale, train farmers in the transition, and β€” most importantly β€” buy the harvest at a committed price so no farmer carries the risk of change alone. Today we work with over 2,100 farmer partners across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. The soil report that started it all hangs framed in our Nashik office, next to the most recent one from the same plot: organic carbon, 0.9% and climbing.

What we do

Three things, done properly.

Everything we run exists to make one change stick: farms that feed the soil instead of fighting it, and farmers who earn more for doing so.

Grow

Bio-inputs

Made in our Nashik and Indore units from farm waste, neem, and native microbial cultures β€” batch-tested before anything leaves the gate.

  • Vermicompost & enriched FYM
  • Neem-based pest management
  • Jeevamrut & microbial consortia
  • Soil testing with plain-language reports
Harvest

Residue-free produce

We buy what our partner farms grow at a price committed before sowing, then handle grading, cold chain, and residue certification.

  • Table grapes, pomegranate, banana
  • Onion, tomato, okra, turmeric
  • Soybean, wheat, chickpea
  • Every lot lab-tested & traceable to its farm
Learn

Farmer transition

A three-season programme that walks each farm from chemical dependence to living soil β€” without a single season of lost income.

  • Field schools in Marathi & Hindi
  • Season-long agronomist support on call
  • Transition credit for bio-inputs
  • Committed buy-back from year one

We publish these numbers every March, audited alongside our accounts. Farming claims are cheap; ledgers aren't.

Harvest calendar

What's in season, when.

Our network follows the Kharif and Rabi cycles. Buyers plan against this calendar; farmers sow against a price already committed.

From the field

Farmers say it better.

My spray bill used to decide my season. Now the soil does. Third year with Clean Agro, and for the first time my son is talking about staying on the farm.

They committed the soybean price before I sowed a single seed. When the mandi crashed in October, my price didn't. That's the whole difference.
